THE DEVIL'S BRIDE
Episode 35: Blood of the Unspoken
By Rapwizzy Debaron
Seraphina hit the ground with a thunderous crash.
Not as a queen.
Not as a goddess.
But as something far more terrifying—
A woman with something to hide.
Black blood poured from her side, sizzling as it touched the earth. It hissed like a living thing, trying to crawl away. The cursed army faltered, unsure. The Watchers hovered, their weapons still raised, waiting for judgment.
Kael didn't move.
He stood above her, the Sword That Remembers pulsing in his hand.
But the pain in his eyes was louder than any victory.
Lucien approached cautiously. "It wasn't just power she wanted..."
Kael nodded. "It was protection. She was running from something."
Seraphina coughed, her voice weak but laced with bitterness. "You should've stayed dead."
Kael crouched beside her, the blue fire of his sword flickering low. "You tried to rewrite fate. Why?"
---
She laughed, blood on her lips.
"Because I was never the villain," she whispered. "Only the placeholder."
Kael's breath caught.
"What do you mean?"
She stared at the sky, eyes glazed. "You think this ends with me? I was hiding you. Protecting you. From the true king."
---
A chill swept through the battlefield.
Even the Watchers lowered their blades.
Lucien frowned. "There's someone worse than you?"
Seraphina's eyes met his. "He was the first bearer of the Flame. He died… but his soul was cursed to return. Over and over."
Kael's grip tightened on the sword.
"You mean…"
"Yes," she rasped. "You."
---
Evelyn stumbled toward them, hearing the last words.
"What is she saying?"
Kael turned, voice hollow. "I've lived before. Fought before. Burned this world before."
Lucien whispered, "You're not just the heir… You're the origin."
Seraphina's voice cracked. "And you're waking up, Kael. That's why the sword chose you. Why the Watchers fear you. Why I tried to kill you before it was too late."
Kael stood, every memory buried deep within him beginning to stir.
Flashes of ancient battles.
A crown of flame.
A throne built from bones and fire.
And a single voice crying in the dark:
"Stop him before he remembers."
---
Seraphina closed her eyes. "It's done now. The others will come."
Kael stepped back. "What others?"
Her lips trembled.
"The old gods."
---
Above them, the sky cracked.
Not thunder.
Not magic.
But the sound of a door—
opening in the heavens.
And something stepping through.
---
To be continued…
The truth cannot be buried.
Kael is more than flame.
And something older than gods is watching.
