Chapter 135 - Chapter 135: Three Pieces of News

"Noah is the disciple of the Sorcerer Supreme. He'll be leaving Hogwarts next year, but he's left behind some promising signs. However, you must swear by Merlin not to let this slip."

After Kenn and the others explained the situation, the newly joined students were dumbfounded. Only now did they truly understand how remarkable Noah was!

Even those who initially didn't know the significance of the Sorcerer Supreme grasped the importance after a bit of clarification.

They all began to yearn for Noah's acknowledgment. If Noah didn't approve of them, they would likely have to leave in disgrace.

And nobody wanted that.

To their relief, Noah didn't ask any probing questions. He was friendly and welcoming, putting everyone at ease. In truth, he had always come across as kind.

Even the students who had witnessed Noah overpower Marcus Flint had to admit, Malfoy had gone too far at the time, and Marcus had simply been in the way.

Although Noah's counterattack had been intense, Marcus hadn't been physically hurt, well, that's if you don't count the destroyed wand.

A compassionate leader, coupled with the three foundational principles of the "Mage Alliance," made the organization feel like the perfect home for them.

Noah's warmth lifted the mood, and the carriage soon turned lively.

Students began revisiting earlier conversations, discussing the problems they faced during the second test and the amount of reward money they'd received.

The money-sharing arrangement had really padded the pockets of many students, especially since Noah had handled the distribution with great care.

Thanks to Constantine's cooperation, all the junior wizards had access to useful information. They were even briefed on the weaknesses of the creatures they would face.

Their job was to defeat the monsters using what they had learned. Although a few students had been eliminated due to nervousness, they were the minority.

Most had come prepared, based on their monster's traits, and successfully defeated them.

As for the money?

The commission was split into three portions. Those who handled the job received three shares. Two shares were evenly distributed among all Mage Alliance members.

The remaining five shares went to Constantine and his team, a decision everyone agreed with, considering the intel and groundwork they provided. The students simply had to execute.

The fees for exorcising spirits or monsters were high, especially in large castles owned by wealthy Muggles. Such places were often haunted or built atop former dungeons, housing strange anomalies.

Exorcists were never short on business, and these missions brought in generous pay.

After just one successful mission, these young magicians could earn enough for a joyful summer vacation. Who wouldn't be thrilled?

And exposure was never a concern. Constantine accompanied them, ensuring they weren't discovered by Muggles. The kids could give it their all.

Most importantly, they were now part of a thriving family of skilled students.

"You know, I went to Leeds to help a Muggle real estate developer exorcise a ghost. It had been dead for nearly a thousand years! If the body hadn't been buried so deep, I could've expelled it on the spot!"

"That's nothing, I ran into a newborn vampire in Manchester! It was my first time there, and honestly, the air sucked. But the vampire? Piece of cake. Muggles use silver crosses. I just hit it with a full-body Bind Curse, turned it into a statue, and sent it to the Ministry!"

Laughter and loud chatter filled the space as more stories were shared. From time to time, their eyes would drift toward Noah, clearly hoping to impress.

Noah found it amusing. Still, he had to pretend to listen intently. After all, they were his companions now, and as their leader, he had to set a good example.

"By the way, Noah," Hermione spoke up amid the noise. "Didn't you say you went to Kamar-Taj over the summer? Can you tell us what it was like?"

"Yeah, Noah," Ron added with a smile. "I skipped Egypt with my parents just to help my brother with a mission."

Ron had changed significantly, he was far more cheerful now. Last year, he'd been like a silent lamb, hardly speaking and always avoiding attention.

Back then, he had felt like an outsider who got in through the back door. But now that he understood Noah and the others better, his confidence had grown.

In simple terms, he'd gone from withdrawn to outspoken, largely because he'd become strong enough to believe in himself.

Even though he knew he still lagged behind the original members, he was determined not to remain last forever.

"Hey, Ron! You make it sound like we needed your help," Fred said with mock indignation. "We admit you've gotten better, but it's not like you've been to Egypt either!"

"Yeah, haven't we all missed that trip?" George chimed in.

"Come on, Noah, we're all curious!" Kenn leaned in, joined by Evan, Lance, and Ernie.

"Well, it's nothing special," Noah said, nodding and pausing thoughtfully. "Honestly, while I'd like to say I had a good time over the summer, those two months at Kamar-Taj were like hell."

"Wait, what?" they all asked.

"Yeah," Noah sighed. "As soon as I arrived, my master began teaching me spatial magic. Then he took away my Sling Ring!"

"Uh… your what?"

"The Sling Ring," Noah explained. "It's an artifact that lets you travel through space using magical portals. But I wasn't allowed to use it. Oh, and he also banned me from using my wand!"

"You managed without it?" Hermione asked in surprise.

"Barely," Noah chuckled. "I could open a portal for just a few seconds, but hey, that's something! Oh, and there are a few more things. News from Kamar-Taj. Things that are closely tied to all of you."

That definitely got their attention.

Despite the harsh training, Noah had gained immensely from it. Now, if he used the Sling Ring again, he could open portals far more easily, it was just a matter of focus and positioning.

And these weren't secrets. Kamar-Taj's teachings, magician classifications, and the upcoming changes were already being made public, so he had no problem sharing with his friends.

"What kind of news, Noah?" someone asked eagerly.

"Yeah, tell us already!"

Seeing their excitement, Noah couldn't help but smile. Clearly, word from Kamar-Taj was irresistible.

"Three things. First, Kamar-Taj is implementing a magician grading system. It'll start with schools. There'll be fifteen levels, giving a clear hierarchy of magician strength."

"Oh my god, a grading system?"

"Yes," Noah confirmed. "Low-level magicians can advance quickly at first, it won't be too difficult. But higher up, it gets exponentially harder. To give you an idea: a seventh-order magician could take on hundreds of sixth-order. And a fifteenth-level magician? They could destroy the entire world."

"Merlin's beard, Noah, what order are you?" Evan gasped.

Noah smiled and took out his pendant. As he infused it with magic, a glowing number appeared, 4.

A fourth-Order magician?

Curious, Evan reached for the pendant and tried infusing his own magic, but nothing happened. The pendant remained unresponsive.

Noah took it back. "It's soul-bound. Each person can only have one."

"Alright," Fred said, "what's the second piece of news?"

"This one's not directly for you, unless you're strong and smart enough to earn it," Noah said. "Kamar-Taj is launching the first Kamar-Taj Magic Award, honoring those who develop powerful and valuable magic. It'll be an annual award. The winner gets a full year at Kamar-Taj, meditating and studying under the Ancient One herself."

"What?!"

A full year at Kamar-Taj? Under the Ancient One?

That was enough to drive any magician in the world wild.

Of course, as Noah said, it didn't concern most of them yet. They were still too young to invent new magical systems.

Still, the thought alone was thrilling.

"And the third thing?" Kenn asked.

"This one matters most, so listen carefully," Noah said, his voice turning serious.

Everyone went quiet.

In a distant corner of the carriage, a disheveled man who had been pretending to sleep stirred slightly. He had heard everything. The classification system. The magic award. It all piqued his curiosity.

But he knew he wasn't strong enough to be part of it, yet.

Still, he wanted to know more about this student who knew so much about Kamar-Taj.

So, he kept pretending to sleep.

And when Noah revealed the final news… he was stunned.

"The last thing is this: Kamar-Taj will soon open a university, Kamar-Taj University of Magic. It will be open to the entire global magical community, but only the most talented students will be admitted. I don't think I need to say anything more, do I?"

The entire League of Mages carriage fell into stunned silence.

Mouths hung open.

Eyes were wide.

Noah had just dropped a bombshell.
