Chapter 11: THRONE WAR
peacefully, maybe its because of this gorgeous woman laying in my arms. And i didn't have a nightmare, i admired the beauty in my arms for a while then i got out of the bed quietly so as not to wake her. I got into the bathroom, had my bath and got dressed. Tonight will be the night The king announces his heir and i for one i am not particularly interested but he made it a necessity that we all be there. I left a note for seraphine and i asked the maids to prepare a gown for her for the event tonight.
"You seem to be in a brighter mood today, i guess you had a wonderful time with your wife last night?" Fredric asked while we were sparring in the training ground.
"My dear friend, this is why you need to get married. You are hardly ever happy". I responded casually
"Oh and you are one to speak. When was the last time you smiled this much?" He clapped back and we both laughed.
"Does she know?" Fredric asked breaking the laughter "know what" i stood up from the ground.
"That you practically chased out all your mistresses" he said and i laughed at his statement "i didn't chase them, i only asked them to leave, with a few threats" "and no, she doesn't know yet" i answered.
"You should go and get ready, the announcement ceremony will begin in few hours he said again and bowed then he left.
I still don't feel the need for me to attend this stupid ceremony and i equally don't know why my father insisted i come, maybe he wanted kanan to gloat in my presence but here i am prepared to attend anyway. I picked up her scent, i always had a sharp sense of smell and seraphine had this unique spectacular scent like freshly bloomed roses. I raised my eyes and behold a stunning beauty, the gown fitted on her body perfectly revealing all her hidden curves and the black colour matched perfectly with her hair colour. "You look perfect, love" the words left my mouth on their own, she blushed furiously her cheeks turned red. "Thank you, my prince, you look outstanding also." She said. "Shall we?" I offered her my hand which she took and we walked to the hall.
Servants were scattered all over the hall, prestigious men and women, people of influence, kings from various kingdoms were all in attendance if i didn't know better i will think my father was getting married to yet another wife. Kanan was busy moving about the hall greeting almost everyone, i think they're all his allies or something. I don't care though i can't wait to get through with this night.
"Attention please everyone" The king said standing on the podium "as we all know, i am supposed to present my heir to you all today, but first, kingship shouldn't be something that is given to just anyone. It is a role that should be earned and so i have come to a decision i will not be choosing an heir.... I declare throne war" the king said in a loud voice. Gasps filled the hall i was equally surprised, this man wants me dead. He knows that i am the least influential and i have almost zero allies i will be the target of all my brothers the moment he dies. I could see the evil smirk on kanan's face of course he's happy he will finally have a chance to end me.
"Seraphine, lets leave here."I said calmly.
As we were walking, seraphine asked "what does throne war mean?".
"It means i will be dead soon" i answered bluntly. Her eyes widened "why do you say so".
"The king just declared war between my brothers and me. Throne war means whiich ever one of us survives each other's attacks gets the throne". I responded.
"No.. i.. i don't care about the throne. You can't die. Lets leave here," she said panicking.
"And where can we go to, i do not have any allies, No king will accept me into his kingdom, because as you know everyone believes i am a demon" i sounded rather harsh than supposed. "I'm sorry for my tone, i didn't intend to sound harsh. Lets just forget about that for now and live one day at a time". She nodded with her head down.
