Chapter 5 - Chapter 5(Bonus chapter)

I had been staring blankly our whole trip, looking at this screen that popped up when I had killed those walkers.

'Close,'

'Shutdown.'

'Shadows take you.'

The only message it showed ever since I killed them. It doesn't change or disappear, it's like an unwanted pop-up. I had been muttering words voiclessly to make it go away but have been failing. 'Enough,' I yelled internally, getting tired of it blocking my vision. And it worked.

I sighed, and now it was time to know how I could open it; it might come in handy. 'Open,' failed. 'Initialize' failed. 'Awaken' failed. 'Ignite' failed…

2:36 PM

Macon

We arrived in Macon, The truck stopped in front of a hardware store named Cherokee Hardware. "Well, this is as far as we are going," Kenny said, getting out of the vehicle.

We all stepped out of the vehicle and began to walk inside, finding the town empty. I took the bag from Clem, seeing her limp from her injury, Kenny and Katjaa with Duck walked ahead of us, looking for survivors, while I was searching for threats, or Lee's store, which I did find, Suddely, Duck spoke, it sounded louder in the eerily quite town, "Look."

Kenny looked at what his son was pointing at and saw someone crouching behind a flipped sedan, I quickly put my hand over his mouth before he could scream to get their attention.

"Hey, get in, quickly," I heard a male voice from behind me. Turning around, I saw Glenn, he looked the same as his TV show counterpart. Carley with her gun drawn, and Doug, holding the gate open.

We quickly moved inside, and were greeted by Lilly and Larry, who were pissed at the three for opening the gate, "We can't take risks like this," Spoke Lilly.

"And we can't just let people die, either." Carley voiced her feelings.

"When I SAY 'That door stays shut no matter what,' I FUCKING mean it," Lilly yelled.

"We don't know who these people are, they could be dangerous." Lilly said in a low voice, but loud enough for us to hear, "We are right here." Kenny said, looking at her blankly.

All turned to him, looking guilty except Lilly and Larry. "They could've led them right to us," Larry shouted.

"Where the hell is your humanity? They could've died out there," Carley said with a frown.

"Then we let'em!" Larry said, his voice not any lower than before.

"We can't trust anybody, we already know that," Lilly supported her dad.

Carley's frown deepened. "You'll have to excuse her," she said, looking at me, upset at the duo's inhumanity.

"The hell he, or anyone, will, do you not see this is about survival. Do you guys not see what's happening?" I couldn't take a side. When I looked at Carley, all I could think of were people like Negan, Governor, etc.

While looking at Lilly, all I could think of were people like Clementine, Amy, and Sophia. On the side, Duck had slipped off to find a bathroom and tugged at the door, unseen by everyone. "They've got kids, Lilly," Glenn said, trying to make her understand.

"Those things outside don't care." Lilly was indifferent.

"Maybe you should go join 'em. You'll have something in common!" Kenny snorted

Suddenly, a loud thud and a scream were heard. Everyone looked in that direction, and Kenny ran quickly, noticing his son was about to be eaten. He tackled the walker.

I looked to my side. Carley was pointing her gun at the walker; her finger was on the trigger guard. 'Smart girl.' I put my hand on the slide and slid it back enough to put the gun out-of-battery. "You'll draw too much attention," I said, shoving her weapon down, and dashed toward the Walker Kenny was wrestling. First, I kicked it on the side of the knee, breaking its leg, yet it didn't let go of Kenny.

I grabbed its rotting face from the back, my fingers placed under its chin, and I began to pull, extruding my full strength into it. The pull was so strong that it started to tear off its neck. Argh! Kenny groaned, getting what I was trying to do, and began to pull back, the walker helped tear its neck by not letting go of Kenny.

Crack!

Rip!

Its head snapped backward and crashed into the sharp corner of the crash counter, splitting it open; it practically exploded on impact. Kenny and I both dropped to the ground. I wiped my hands on the walker's shirt and stood up, then extended my hand to Kenny. He took it, and I pulled him up to his feet.

"Son of a bitch, one of them is bitten," Larry yelled.

"No one is bitten," I said with a frown, annoyed by his constant yelling that is doing nothing but attracting walkers outside.

I unholstered my gun, ready to aim. "That's it. We have to end this now," Larry yelled and snatched the gun from Carley. "Hey!" Carley yelled to no avail.

Larry aimed his gun at my head while I had mine on his, though there was one unknown factor that none but I knew.

"Put the gun down," I warned him.

"Dad, put the gun down. Now!" Lilly yelled at her dad, there was no need to endanger his own life, Lilly's head was in shambles thinking about his heart health problems and her own survival.

"I said, put the gun down," I said again, as I clicked my tongue, I didn't want the walkers on our ass, not yet.

Larry and I stood there, our guns raised at each other's heads, Clem was hiding behind a shelve, Kenny had backed up, still with a frown, the blood was dripping the distance with a clump of brain on the side of the register.

Click!

Larry pulled the trigger, yet nothing happened; there was no recoil. It was as if the gun was empty, which it was, because I had removed the magazine when I grabbed it in Carley's hand. However, due to the commotion, no one noticed, not even Carley herself.

'This son of a bitch,' I thought as I put my gun down, I was testing him- to see if he'll actually pull the trigger or not. And he did. Everyone was relieved and confused that the gun was empty. Carley snatched her gun back from the stupified Larry, checked her gun, and found that the magazine was missing. Suddenly, her eyes landed on the magazine lying on the floor.

'This guy-' there was fear in everyone's eyes I could see it, but I don't care, as I was thinking if I should've pulled the trigger as well, it would've gotten rid of one nuisance early on.

I wanted to show the group my restraint and the fear of death, the best way to control people, and I think I succeeded.

or

I didn't, as I saw Larry lunge for the gun again as Carley finished reloading it, 'Motherfucker,' and I pulled the trigger.
