Dear Diary,
Okay, so… it's official. I'm in way over my head.
I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. A few days ago, I was just a regular high school girl trying to figure out how to survive geometry class and keep my lunch from spilling all over myself. Now, I'm being asked to meet a mysterious guy in the middle of the night to find out the truth about my past life as an ancient queen.
Yep. That's how my life is going now.
I couldn't ignore the book. As much as I wanted to pretend it wasn't there, taunting me every time I opened my backpack, I knew I had to find out what the hell was going on.
The note inside the book had been clear: "Meet me at midnight. The truth awaits you."
I didn't know if I was being brave or just crazy, but there was something in me that knew I had to go. Something pulled me toward this destiny that I wasn't even sure I believed in.
That night, I set my alarm for 11:45 PM. Just in case I chickened out, I wanted to make sure I had a little buffer time to talk myself out of it. But, shocker, I didn't need the extra time. When the alarm went off, I knew I had to go.
I threw on a hoodie and some sneakers, hoping I wouldn't look too suspicious if anyone saw me sneaking out of the house. Luckily, my parents were asleep. They'd never understand. They didn't know anything about the weird dreams, the book, or the weird pull I felt toward Malik.
The streets were eerily quiet as I walked toward the park near school, where Malik had told me to meet him. It wasn't far from my house, but the walk felt endless. The air was cold, and I kept checking over my shoulder, half-expecting someone to jump out from the shadows.
But it was just me, the silence, and the feeling that something big was about to happen.
When I got to the park, I didn't see Malik right away. My heart thudded in my chest, and I was starting to question if this was a huge mistake.
But then, out of the darkness, I saw him.
Malik.
He was standing by a large, ancient-looking fountain in the middle of the park, his figure illuminated by the faint glow of the moon. He looked different — not just the clothes, but something in his eyes. There was a weight to him now, a seriousness that wasn't there before.
"I thought you wouldn't come," he said, his voice low and almost wistful.
"I almost didn't," I admitted, stepping closer. "But I had to know the truth."
Malik nodded slowly. "And you will. But first, you need to understand that everything you've known… is a lie. You are the reincarnation of a queen, Zariah. A queen with power beyond what you can imagine."
I swallowed hard. The air around us seemed to grow heavier, like it was charged with something I couldn't see but could feel.
"So… what do I do now?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
He stepped closer, his gaze never leaving mine. "Now, you embrace who you really are. You have to start remembering your true self. And I'll help you do that."
The way he said it made me feel like there was so much more to this than just the magic or the crown. It was something bigger. Something that had been waiting for me for a long time.
"I'm ready," I said, even though part of me wasn't sure I was. But I couldn't turn back now. Not after everything I'd already seen and felt.
Malik reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, glowing crystal. It was about the size of a marble, but the light it emitted was soft yet powerful.
"This is the key," he explained. "It will help you remember."
Before I could ask what it did, he took my hand and placed the crystal in my palm. The instant it touched my skin, I felt a surge of energy shoot through me. It wasn't painful, but it was overwhelming. Like every single part of me was coming alive at once.
I gasped, my knees buckling slightly as I tried to hold onto the ground.
"Relax," Malik said softly. "Just breathe. Let the memory come."
The world around me seemed to blur, and I felt like I was falling into something ancient. I was no longer in the park with Malik. Instead, I was standing in a grand hall, a throne room, just like in my dreams. Only this time, it felt real. It felt like I belonged there.
Suddenly, everything clicked.
I was standing before a throne, just like in the dream, but this time, I wasn't just watching. I was her — the queen, the one who had ruled long before Zariah. My hair was long and dark, braided with golden threads, and I wore a crown, the same one I'd seen in my visions.
I reached out to touch it, but before I could, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Malik, standing beside me.
"You are ready now," he said. "The power inside you is awakening."
And just like that, I was back in the park, blinking up at Malik. My hand was still holding the crystal, and the world seemed to be spinning around me.
I stumbled back, disoriented. "What was that? What just happened?"
"That," he said, "was the first step. You've unlocked a piece of your past. There's still more to come, but we're getting closer."
I didn't know what to say. My mind was reeling. I had been a queen. A real queen. And this magic… it was real.
I felt like I was drowning in it all, but at the same time, I couldn't turn away. I needed to know what happened next. I needed to know what this all meant.
Love,Zariah
